What Is Estate Administration?

Estate Administration is the process by which the trust administrator carries out the terms of the trust. Additionally, the trust administrator deals with the trust tax return, trust management, and protecting the assets of the trust.

Our Chicago trust administration lawyers provide legal services to trustees. We work to develop strategies that allow the beneficiary to receive an income while the trusts assets are grown through investment. A trust must be administrated by a Trustee who may have to appear before the court to provide accountings and report on the status of the trust. We represent trustees and assist with regular documentation when the trust is under the authority of the court. We also act on behalf of the beneficiaries in protecting the trust assets.

The administration of a trust can be very complicated. Our Northbrook trust administration attorneys have helped thousands of families administer trusts according to the trust documents. Additionally, we have helped families with joint tenancy assets re-title the assets in the name of the surviving joint tenant. We also help beneficiaries obtain IRA and insurance annuities and other assets to which they are entitled.
